Traywick Contemporary News

September 2004

It's been a busy summer with lots of action here and elsewhere...

One of the many highlights of the summer was Traywick Contemporary being named "Best Gallery" by the readers and editors of San Francisco Magazine, in its annual "Best of" Issue (July). Here's what they had to say:

After seven years of putting the East Bay on the map as a visual arts destination, Katrina Traywick has reinvented her eponymous gallery as Traywick Contemporary. Now based out of her showcase Berkeley home - a former Masonic Temple, dazzlingly transformed - she hosts regular artist lectures and collector salons, seeking to foster a personal connection with, and between, art aficionados of all ages and budgets.

Looks like we better get cracking! Here are some of our upcoming programs:

First up in Traywick Contemporary's 2004-2005 exhibition schedule is Double Exposure, a portfolio of diptychs by 14 international artists: Uta Barth, Vanessa Beecroft, Thomas Demand, Olafur Eliasson, Nan Goldin, Candida Hofer, Axel Hutte, Alfredo Jaar, Bill Jacobson, Malerie Marder, Barbara Probst, Thomas Ruff, James Welling, and Catherine Yass. The exhibition will be on view for the month of September and into early October at the Colusa Avenue space, by appointment only. Please call 510-527-1214 to schedule a visit.

Site 2, the second in our ongoing series of exhibitions at off-site locations will feature new large-scale compound photos by Charles LaBelle. The show opens October 14th, continues through November 20th, and will be located in San Francisco at 49 Geary, 5th Floor, Suite 513. Stay tuned for more details including dates for the opening reception.

Looking towards the New Year, we are starting to plan for our booth at the 7th Annual San Francisco International Art Exposition in January of 2005.
