Halloween news and updates from Traywick Contemporary and its spooky artists:
Site 4: the fourth in our ongoing series of projects and exhibitions in changing locations is up now at 20 Hawthorne, Lower Level, in San Francisco. The exhibition features two solo shows: Linda Mieko Allen Center of Gravity and Stas Orlosvki Recent Work. Site 4 continues through November 12. Hours are Wednesday - Saturday, 11 to 5.
If your travel plans include the hot spot of Miami's South Beach in early December, please visit us at the Aqua Art Fair, December 1 - 4. We are in room #218 with fabulous new work from our artists and maybe some beachy beverages as well.
Continuing through December, 2005 in Berkeley is Photo-based, featuring the work of Helen Altman, Johnna Arnold, Dennis Begg, Ellen Carey, Kate Farrall, Ken Fandell, Charles LaBelle and Amanda Marchand. Here's the latest from our artists' busy schedules:
Linda Mieko Allen's work was featured in the 2005 Berkshire Biennial, showcasing the best new work in the Berkshires, at the Contemporary Art Center in North Adams, MA.
Dennis Begg's solo exhibition at the Bolinas Art Museum continues through November 13. His work is also included in .Local Voice. the current show at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek which was juried by Marian Parmenter.
Amy Berk has work in Bay Area Now 4 as part of stretcher (www.stretcher.org) at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The exhibition closes November 6, 2005. As the closing event for Bay Area Now 4, she will be hosting a participatory dinner on November 3 (6:30-8). The interactive salon topic will be interdisciplinary practice and the event (including dinner) is free to all. Please rsvp to to secure your seat at the table.
Jamie Brunson recently completed a residency at the Djerassi Resident Artist program in Woodside, CA. Her work is featured in Ornamentation: The Art of Desire , the current exhibition at the San Jose Institute for Contemporary Art. Dates are November 4 to January 7, 2006.
Ellen Carey has work in Romancing the Shadows, the current exhibition at the Palo Alto Art Center. The show continues through January 1, 2006.
Ken Fandell's video "It's Hard and I Could Use Some Help" will be shown at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art as part of their Night Moves video exhibition program. It will be showing November 4 - January 8, 2006. He has also been recognized as one of 6 Chicago artists to know in the November 2005 issue of Chicago Magazine. Opening October 28th is a solo show at Chicago gallery Bodybuilder & Sportsman.
Amy Kaufman's work was included in the recent group show "Bay Area Bazaar" curated by artist Laurie Reid at Pulliam Deffenbaugh Gallery in Portland, OR.
Amanda Marchand's work will be included in the forthcoming book on Contemporary Canadian Photography: Carte Blanche.
Stas Orlovski was the recipient of a pretigious J. Paul Getty Trust Fellowship from the California Community Foundation. His work was recently added to the permanent collections of the The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and The Phoenix Art Museum. His new monotypes will be shown at Aurabora Press in San Francisco in November.
